Welcome to Neat Wooden Toys!

My children love wooden toys. Maybe it’s because I’ve always valued natural playthings and ensured that most, if not all, of the toys available to them are made from wooden, cloth, metal or other non-plastic materials. Or perhaps they are simply attracted to the natural beauty and realness of wooden trucks, wood dollhouses and wooden train tracks compared to their plastic counterparts. 

From this family-wide appreciation for quality playthings has grown my desire to share the beauty of real toys with others. I like playing with the toys myself, to be honest, and this website is a fun way for me to explore and share a fun hobby – playing with my kids’ toys. That’s only partly a joke.

There’s a wide variety of wooden toys available, from mass- produced but still quality items, such as wooden trains and tracks, to handmade wooden toys and fair trade wooden baby toys created in a sustainable manner. 

Hopefully a combination will find their way into your home to be enjoyed for years and even decades by your children and perhaps your children’s children.

As you explore this site, remember that seeing the toys on a flat screen doesn’t compare to holding, feeling and manipulating them. As much as you appreciate the attractiveness and simple beauty of these items, so much more will the intended recipients enjoy playing with them.

 Tip: Save money on toy purchases by buying items that will last, both in their construction and in their attractiveness to children. The best toys grow with the child and provide years of engaging play. Wooden toys are highly recommended to meet this criteria.
 
Start small, for example by giving a small train set or simple doll house, and add to the collection with new trains, more track; extra dolls and more furniture over the years. Individual gifts in these cases may be small and not terribly expensive, but will add much to their interest and engagement in the toy set as a whole.
